Lori A. Smolin, Ph.D.

Lori A. Smolin is a nutrition scientist who earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University and a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, where her doctoral research focused on B vitamins, homocysteine accumulation, and genetic defects in homocysteine metabolism. She completed postdoctoral training at Harbor–UCLA Medical Center, where she studied human obesity, and at the University of California—San Diego, where she studied genetic defects in amino acid metabolism. Dr. Smolin has published in peer-reviewed journals and taught at the University of Connecticut, both in the Department of Nutritional Sciences and in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology. She is an author of two college-level nutrition textbooks.
